Selket, also known as Serqet, embodies the deadly allure and protective nature of the scorpion. This ancient Egyptian deity, draped in golden robes, moves with an elegant yet dangerous grace, her every step a dance of life and death.

Her most defining characteristic is the living scorpion that crowns her head, a symbol both of her domain and her protection. With sharp, glinting eyes, she observes the world, ready to strike at those who dare harm the vulnerable. Her arms are often outstretched, holding two crossed scorpion stingers, a signal of her dual nature – the ability to harm and heal.

To the ancient Egyptians, Selket was not only the protector of the vulnerable but also a guardian to the dead, particularly those transitioning to the afterlife. Within the tombs of pharaohs, statues of Selket have been found, watching over the deceased and ensuring their safe journey into the afterlife.
